Hola amigos! It’s been a couple years now that I’ve been to Cabo, so I decided I better write my guide before I forget everything. Ha! Anyway, Los Cabo is made up of two major towns: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. San Lucas is more touristy, while San Jose is more quiet and artsy. There are plenty of resorts between both towns, with many of them being all-inclusive. We stayed at Holiday Inn All-Inclusive in San Jose because it was cheaper and we wanted to be away from the tourist. Needless to say, we really loved this hotel. It had everything we needed and the food and drinks were delicious. Plus, we didn’t feel guilty leaving the resort like we would have at a fancier one. We decided to rent a car for the week because it was cheap and we like our freedom, however it is not necessary to have to follow this guide because there are taxis, buses, or hotel transportation options.

1. The Art Walk

The art walk is located in San Jose and is every Thursday evening during the months of November-June. It is free and loaded with beautiful artwork throughout the streets. This was such a fun experience! We loved exploring the Mexican streets and seeing the designs from the artists. I highly recommend this activity!!

2. El Arco

The unique, yet gorgeous arch in Cabo San Lucas is a definite must see. If you decide to leave your resort for anything, I suggest it be this. You get there via boat tour from the marina, which is incredibly cheap. I believe ours was $11 USD and we had a glass bottom boat. The tour was fantastic. Our guide was hilarious and took pictures for us and the rock formations were incredible. Pro tip: ask your hotel before you go if the marina is open or not. We made that mistake and wasted a trip unfortunately.

3. Tequila Tasting

It’s Mexico, so that means you must taste the tequila, am I right? Many places in Cabo offer tastings whether it be at your hotel or a tequila shop. Some shops will have signs for it, while others you will need to ask, especially if you’re planning to buy some. It’s a great way to find your favorite!

4. Snorkel

Of course my favorite thing to do on any beach vacation is go snorkeling! I was extremely sad to find that most of Cabo was unsafe for swimming in the ocean, which also meant it was not safe for snorkeling. However, there are a few places that the ocean is not too rough and you can see the beautiful underwater world. Playa Santa Maria was my personal favorite. You can drive there with your own snorkel gear or pay for a boat excursion there. The water is still a little rough, so be mindful, but there are SO many fish there. It was like an aquarium!

5. Go to the Beach

Even though the water may be rough, that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the beach, right? My favorite was Chileno Bay Beach. The water here is relatively calm, so you can swim or snorkel, and it is a stunning blue! You won’t be disappointed with this beach. Playa Santa Maria is another splendid beach to lounge at if you’re not into snorkeling. Plus the views there are lovely. Though we were unable to go, a third beach to try to go to is Divorce/Lovers beach. This beach is located by the arch and is accessed by boat.

6. Shop

Whether you’re in San Jose or San Lucas, there are plenty of shops to check out. If you’re like me, then you have to get a souvenir when on vacation. Most stores don’t have prices, which is slightly annoying, but also means you can haggle a bit to get a better deal. I preferred the shops that already had the prices, so I knew ahead of time what I was going to be paying. Overall, I was pleased with the variety of items to choose from and came home with some adorable decorations.

7. Relax

If you’re not into exploring or you need a break from it, what better way to enjoy a vacation than by simply relaxing. Hang out by the pool and drink the day away, especially if you’re at an all-inclusive resort! Read a great book on your balcony or take a walk on the beach. Enjoy that vacation to the fullest!

8. Eat Delicious Mexican Food

I know, most resorts are all-inclusive and it’s tough to justify leaving to buy food, but hear me out. I don’t suggest doing it every day either, but once or twice is so worth it. The hotels have great food yes, however it’s not always Mexican, which is a huge bummer!! My personal favorite place that we ate at was The Office. The food was great and the atmosphere even better. I will be making a short food guide to Cabo soon, so stay tuned!

Final thoughts: Los Cabo is a wonderful place to visit whether you’re into exploring or you just want to relax. I never felt unsafe here, even when walking around at night. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still be cautious, however. Would I go back to Cabo? Yes, but only to do a few more things such as whale watching and other excursions or to try more restaurants. I wasn’t a huge fan of how touristy it was and I felt like I’ve seen most of it.
